Radio frequency and ultrasound work together for tighter skin and other body contouring
What is Exilis?
Exilis is delivers radiofrequency (RF) and ultrasound energy for non-surgical body contouring and skin tightening. This treatment is very effective for slimming areas of the body and face and firming up the skin without the need for a surgical procedure. Unlike surgical body contouring options such as liposuction, Exilis requires no incisions, and no downtime is needed.
How does the Exilis treatment work?
During an Exilis treatment, precisely controlled radiofrequency (RF) energy is used to heat the deeper layers of the skin. This heat causes fat cells to shrink and contracts the skin tissue, stimulating new collagen production in the process. Exilis is safe for use on many areas of the body and face, including the neck, midsection, thighs and arms. The Exilis platform was designed to deliver energy in short treatment duration for greater patient convenience and comfort. Generally, a series of treatments will be required to achieve the desired result. The number of treatments will depend on your existing cosmetic concerns and the goals you want to achieve.
What can I expect from the Exilis treatment?
You may start to see some body contouring and skin tightening results after just one or two Exilis treatments, but in most cases optimal results will be achieved only after the third or fourth treatment. Treatments will be 1 to 2 week intervals. Since there is no downtime or special care required once you leave the office, you can carry on with the rest of your day’s activities immediately following treatment.
Laser Acne Treatment
Should I have laser treatment for acne?
Acne is generally successfully treated with a variety of topical and oral medications. Inflammatory acne often requires the chronic use of antibiotics by mouth. Treating acne with lasers may lessen the amount of antibiotics required. Laser treatment can improve not only the inflamed acne, but may also lead to the reduction of acne scars.
What lasers are used to treat acne?
There are 2 basic groups of lasers and light-based systems used for treating acne. One group inhibits the growth of the bacteria that is involved in acne lesions; the other shrinks the sebaceous oil glands that play a pivotal role in acne. Our doctors may use more than one laser or light-based system to optimize the acne-clearing benefits of all devices, based on the condition of your skin.
How many treatments are required?
Patients typically need about five to seven, monthly treatments to see the desired improvement. Periodic re-treatments will be required as acne reappears.
Can I combine laser treatment with other acne treatments?
Most patients stay on their topical medications while undergoing laser treatments, although, in general, the dosage will be lowered. Laser acne treatments may be combined with microdermabrasion, leading to even better results than with the laser alone.
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that causes redness and swelling on the face. The scalp, neck, ears, chest, back and/or eyes may also be affected.
What Kind of Symptoms Can One Expect?
Symptoms range from red pimples, lines and visible blood vessels to dry or burning skin and a tendency to flush easily. Many people find that the emotional effects of rosacea such as low self-confidence and avoidance of social situations are more difficult to handle than the physical ones. Although it can affect anyone, rosacea typically appears in light-skinned, light-haired adults aged 30-50.
What are the Treatment Options Available?
While there is no cure for rosacea, there are now effective treatments for this skin condition. The most common approach is to use antibiotic medications, either in the form of creams or pills.
IPL Photo Facial
What is an IPL Photofacial?
Photofacials are a revolutionary advance in laser cosmetics that removes discoloration and textural irregularities, resulting in the appearance of healthier, more vibrant skin. IPL is the acronym for intense pulsed light, which is the technique used in the Photofacial procedure.
Am I a candidate for a Photofacial?
If you suffer from photo damage, sun damage, or other environmental damage, Photofacial works exceptionally well at removing discoloration, and improving skin texture and tone. Years of sun bathing and exposure to the natural elements can be removed after a short treatment, with no down time.
How does a Photofacial rejuvenate my skin?
Photofacial uses gentle light and thermal energy to promote collagen production in the dermis and restore skin to a more youthful state, through wrinkle protection. Brown spots (pigmented imperfections) from sun damage and aging, red blotching from spider vessels or rosacea (vascular imperfections), and rough, porous skin texture will improve over a treatment series. Treatments consistently achieve visible improvement with little discomfort. Studies have concluded that flushing, redness and symptoms of rosacea improve more than 75%, on average.
Does the treatment hurt?
There is little to no discomfort involved in the Photofacial process. Our systems employ a chilled tip that minimizes any discomfort. We offer a host of pre- and post-laser topical treatments to help alleviate any pain or irritation.
What are the side-effects of the treatment?
Temporary pinkness of the skin can last a very short time (from a few minutes to a few hours). Brown spots and freckles temporarily become darker before they lighten. Particularly sensitive areas may crust.
Is Photofacial safe?
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are no long-term health hazards from light or thermal energy used. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.
